The Investigation of Gender Mainstreaming in the Policy-Making Process

Abstract

Gender equality is a prerequisite for achieving sustainable development. The formation of gender mainstreaming is considered as one of the essential necessities so as to realize gender equality. Gender mainstreaming is the process of the impact evaluation of the planned performance including rules, policies, and plans in all areas and at all levels for men and women. It is one of the strategies to ensure the consideration of the issues related to the men and women in the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the policies and plans in all political, economic, and social areas such that men and women benefit from which equally and there should be no inequality. The objective of this study is to investigate gender mainstreaming in the policymaking cycle and introduce this issue in order to expertly critique and investigate the international political documents and in relation to this issue.
