Immigration topic in Europe has gained much attention in recent years; it turned from an internal issue to an external issue and currently is one of the priorities in the foreign policy of EU. European authorities have found out that it is better to cooperate on EU level because common partnership on illegal immigration and refugees can be more effective. Neighborhood Policy and Readmission Agreements with third countries are political instruments in order to solve the problem of illegal immigrants from the origin and prevent them from entering the EU that is both encouraging and punitive. This paper is comparing and evaluating such views and is looking for immigration politics and its impact on foreign relations of European Union in the new era
