Organizational Silence: A Barrier to the Organizational Development

Abstract

The scientific, technological and cultural changes are undergoing vast changes and variegations at a hastened pace in the present era. Now, the successful organizations are those that, besides adapting themselves to the today’s society changes, can predict the direction of future changes and alternations and are capable of guiding these changes parallel to the creation of optimal evolutions for making a better future. Therefore, the successful organizations are in need of creative and agile employees who can identify the organizational threats and weaknesses through perceptiveness and do their best to resolve them. But, the organizational employees sometimes avoid offering ideas and expressing notions regarding the organizational disadvantages, which is termed the organizational silence. Since the organizational silence has been turned into a pervasive problem in a great many of the organization, the present study has dealt with the identification of such a phenomenon and its organizational causes and outcomes.
