Normally, the problems of strategy implementation come from the weakness of control systems. For this purpose, the control system called strategic control is proposed. According to the theory of contingency theory and strategic fit, if strategic control is consistent with the elements of the organization and here project management, performance will be higher. This paper tries to use a pattern of strategic reference points to study a pattern of ideal alignment between elements of project management such as strategy, structure and culture with strategic control and examine its impact on performance. The population of the study was 91 projects for the construction of process petrochemical units. A questionnaire was used to collect data. Findings showed that the alignment of strategic control, strategy, structure, and project culture are effective in increasing project performance largely.
