There is plenty of evidence of the remarkable success of teamwork in different societies. Many organizations have adhered to these experiences and undertaken activities to form work teams. The purpose of this study was to explain the factors affecting the effectiveness of work teams at the unit level. The population of the study was employees of a Water Resources Management Company working in the construction projects of this company. Using stratified-random sampling method, we selected one hundred and eighty-five of them and collected data using a questionnaire. Given the conceptual model and the sample size, we used Smart PLS software to test the hypotheses and measure the model. The results showed that improving the effectiveness of the working teams needs attention to the components of independence of action, teamwork interdependence, job design, characteristics of team structure, team cohesion and intra-team processes. The relationships between these components are shown in the statistical analysis and testing research model.
